कंडीशनल सेंटेंस (Conditional Sentences)

Conditional Sentences

📖 किताब की तरह पढ़ें📝 इस परीक्षा का मॉक टेस्ट

कंडीशनल सेंटेंस वे वाक्य हैं जिनमें एक शर्त (condition) और उसका परिणाम (result) होता है। हिंदी माध्यम के छात्र अक्सर 'if' वाले हिस्से में 'would' का प्रयोग कर देते हैं, जो गलत है। परीक्षाओं में यह 'If I were' और 'Had he come' जैसे इनवर्जन (inversion) के रूप में पूछा जाता है।

नियम 1: ओपन कंडीशन (Type 1 - Possible)

यदि शर्त पूरी होना संभव है, तो 'if' वाले भाग में Present Tense और दूसरे भाग में 'will + V1' का प्रयोग करें। यह भविष्य की संभावनाओं के लिए है।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 याद रखें: 'If' वाले हिस्से में 'will/would' कभी नहीं आता। इसे 'If + Present, will' कहें।

नियम 2: काल्पनिक स्थिति (Type 2 - Imaginary)

(Type 3 - Past Regret)

अतीत की ऐसी घटना जो नहीं हुई, उसके लिए 'if + had + V3' और 'would have + V3' का उपयोग करें। यह बीते हुए समय के पछतावे को दिखाता है।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 पछतावा = 'had + V3' के साथ 'would have + V3'।

नियम 4: इनवर्जन (Inversion - Had/Were/Should)

वाक्य को अधिक औपचारिक (formal) बनाने के लिए 'if' को हटाकर सहायक क्रिया (Helping Verb) को पहले लाते हैं। 'Had he come' का अर्थ 'If he had come' ही होता है।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 Inversion में 'If' और क्रिया एक साथ नहीं आते।

English version — Conditional Sentences

Conditional sentences express a condition and its result. Hindi-medium students often incorrectly use 'would' in the 'if' clause. In exams, it is frequently tested through 'If I were' and inversion structures like 'Had he come'.

Rule 1: Open Condition (Type 1 - Possible)

If the condition is possible, use Present Tense in the 'if' clause and 'will + V1' in the result clause. This is used for real future possibilities.

Examples

Common mistakes

Rule 2: Imaginary Condition (Type 2 - Imaginary)

When discussing an imaginary or impossible present situation, use Past Tense (V2) in the 'if' clause and 'would + V1' in the result clause. Always use 'were' for 'be', regardless of the subject.

Examples

Common mistakes

Rule 3: Past Regret (Type 3 - Past Regret)

For past events that did not happen, use 'if + had + V3' and 'would have + V3'. This expresses regret about the past.

Examples

Common mistakes

Rule 4: Inversion (Had/Were/Should)

To make sentences more formal, remove 'if' and place the helping verb at the start. 'Had he come' means the same as 'If he had come'.
