Narration: सवाल, आदेश और हैरानी वाले वाक्य

Narration of Questions, Orders, Requests, and Exclamations

Rule 1: Yes/No वाले सवाल (if/whether)

जब सवाल का जवाब 'हाँ' या 'ना' में हो (जैसे: Are you happy?), तो 'said to' को 'asked' में बदलें। जोड़ने के लिए 'that' की जगह 'if' या 'whether' का प्रयोग करें। सबसे जरूरी बात: सवाल को एक साधारण वाक्य (Statement) बना दें, यानी पहले Subject और फिर Verb लिखें।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 याद रखें: Asked + If/Whether + Subject + Verb. यहाँ 'that' का इस्तेमाल कभी न करें।

Rule 2: Wh- शब्द वाले सवाल (What, Where, Why)

अगर सवाल Wh- शब्द (What, Where, When, Why, How) से शुरू हो, तो किसी भी जोड़ने वाले शब्द (that/if) का प्रयोग न करें। Wh- शब्द खुद ही जोड़ने का काम करता है। यहाँ भी 'Verb' को 'Subject' के बाद ही रखें।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 Wh- शब्द खुद पुल का काम करता है; किसी और शब्द (that/if) की जरूरत नहीं है।

Rule 3: आदेश, निवेदन और सलाह (Orders/Requests)

आदेश के लिए 'ordered', निवेदन के लिए 'requested' और सलाह के लिए 'advised' का प्रयोग करें। वाक्य को जोड़ने के लिए 'to + V1' का प्रयोग करें। अगर वाक्य नकारात्मक (Negative) है, तो 'not to' का प्रयोग करें।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 सूत्र: Ordered/Requested + Object + to + V1. 'Don't' के लिए 'not to' का प्रयोग करें।

Rule 4: 'Let's' वाले वाक्य (Suggestions)

जब वाक्य 'Let's' (Let us) से शुरू हो, तो 'said to' को 'suggested to' या 'proposed to' में बदलें। इसके बाद 'that + we/they + should' का प्रयोग करें।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 'Let's' को 'that they/we should' में बदलें, आपका उत्तर सही हो जाएगा।

Rule 5: हैरानी और इच्छा (Exclamations and Wishes)

खुशी के लिए 'exclaimed with joy', दुख के लिए 'exclaimed with sorrow' और प्रार्थना के लिए 'prayed' या 'wished' का प्रयोग करें। जोड़ने के लिए 'that' लगाएं और वाक्य को साधारण बना दें।

उदाहरण

आम गलती

💡 Exclaimed with joy/sorrow + that + Subject + Verb. (May को Might में बदलें)।

English version — Narration of Questions, Orders, Requests, and Exclamations

In this part of Narration, we learn how to convert Questions, Orders, Requests, and Exclamatory sentences into Indirect Speech. SSC students often make mistakes in word order, especially in questions. We will focus on changing reporting verbs and adjusting sentence structures to statement form.

Rule 1: Yes/No Questions (if/whether)

For questions starting with helping verbs (Is, Are, Do, Have, etc.), change 'said to' to 'asked'. Use 'if' or 'whether' as a connector instead of 'that'. Change the question structure into a statement (Subject + Verb) and remove the question mark.

Examples

Common mistakes

💡 Always remember: Asked + If/Whether + Subject + Verb. Never use 'that' here.

Rule 2: Wh- Questions (What, Where, Why)

If the question starts with a Wh-word, do not use 'that', 'if', or 'whether'. The Wh-word itself acts as a connector. Ensure the sentence follows the Subject + Verb order and ends with a full stop.

Examples

Common mistakes

💡 Wh-word acts as the bridge; no other connector (that/if) is needed.

Rule 3: Commands, Requests, and Advice

Change 'said to' to ordered, requested, advised, or begged based on the tone. Use 'to + V1' to connect the reported speech. For negative commands, use 'not to + V1'. Remove words like 'Please' or 'Kindly'.

Examples

Common mistakes

💡 Formula: Ordered/Requested + Object + to + V1. Use 'not to' for 'Don't'.

Rule 4: Sentences starting with 'Let's'

For sentences starting with 'Let's', change the reporting verb to 'suggested' or 'proposed'. Use the connector 'that' followed by 'we/they + should + V1'.

Examples

Common mistakes

💡 Change 'Let's' into 'that they/we should' to get the answer right.

Rule 5: Exclamatory and Optative Sentences

For exclamations, use 'exclaimed with joy/sorrow/surprise'. For wishes or prayers, use 'wished' or 'prayed'. Use 'that' as a connector and change the exclamation into a statement.

Examples

Common mistakes

💡 Exclaimed with joy/sorrow + that + Subject + Verb. (May becomes Might).
